World Cup: FIFA warns Super Eagles ahead of next tournament

FIFA has said that the Super Eagles will only qualify for the World Cup in 2030 if they depend on stability in the structure of the country’s football.

The world football governing body, in a statement on Wednesday, emphasized Nigeria’s impressive footballing production line.

The three-time African champions failed to make it to a second consecutive World Cup in 2026.

Eric Chelle’s men finished as runners-up to South Africa in Group C of the CAF qualifiers but lost the continental play-off final to DR Congo.

FIFA has now offered advise to football administrators in the West African country.

“Nevertheless, with the country’s vast footballing production line, Nigeria’s potential remains enormous,” the statement read in part.

“Making it to the 2030 showpiece will therefore hinge less on ability than on stability in the shape of a robust structure that paves the way for reliable performances.”
