Super Eagles and Leicester City midflielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has blamed himself for his side's relegation to the EFL Championship from the English top flight.
The presence of the 28-year-old meant stability for the Foxes, but he was out of action between December and February due to a hamstring problem, missing eleven games for Ruud Van Nistelrooy's side.
In Ndidi's absence, Leicester won just a game in the English Premier League, which further led to the confirmation of their Championship status ahead of next season.
Leicester have now been elevated from the English top-flight twice in three seasons, which is a terrible decline as they won the League just about a decade ago.
Still, Ndidi chose to hold the blame, as he feels he should have defended better so his side wouldn't have conceded as many goals.
“I feel like I should have done more when it comes to defending. I’m playing in a higher position, but I feel like I should have done more. Even when I’m up there, I should have come back to help,” the ex-Genk midfielder said in quotes revealed by One Football.
Leicester City have conceded 76 goals in 35 league games, the second-most in the English top-flight while Joe Aribo's Southampton have swallowed up 82 goals.
These numbers affirm Ndidi's statement as all three teams who conceded 70+ goals were relegated to the EFL Championship.
