'What a hero' - Union Berlin praises in form striker, Awoniyi

German club Union Berlin is delighted with their Nigerian import Taiwo Awoniyi after he helped them to a vital league win over Borussia Dortmund on Friday night.

Awoniyi and Marvin Friedrich scored in the second half of the encounter to give Urs Fischer’s side a 2 – 1 win over Dortmund at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.

Awoniyi has now scored four goals and provided one assist in his last six league appearances for the Die Eisernen (The Iron Ones) this season.

After Friday night heroic, Union Berlin took to their official Twitter to salute his exploits with kind words.

We are so proud of you tonight. Three amazing performances when we have injuries in that position. What a hero!

Awoniyi will hope to continue his good form when Union Berlin travels to Paderborn for the second round of the DFB-Pokal match.
