The Gunners defeated Chelsea 3-1 in a must-win game for Mikel Arteta

The Nigerian legend has now urged the North Londoners to believe they can build on their recent success

Nigerian legend Kanu Nwankwo has hailed Arsenal stars after their impressive victory over London rivals Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

The North Londoners headed into the encounter without a win in their last seven Premier League fixtures.

However, a goal each from Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka, and Bukayo Saka helped the Gunners secure the maximum victory while Tammy Abraham's 85th-minute strike ended up a mere consolation.

Though they remain on the same spot as they were before the game, the win definitely improved their points on the log. They now have 17 points after 15 EPL matches.

The former Super Eagles attacker is also confident that Mikel Arteta and his men can use the result to turn their poor start to the season around. He wrote on his official Twitter Page.

“Well done Arsenal what a Christmas gift. Arsenal come on you can turn this around KAN U BELIEVE?” Kanu spent five years at Arsenal winning two Premier League titles among a few other domestic silverware but never got a chance to lead them to European success in the process.

The 46-year-old gained prominence after winning the Champions League title with Dutch League giants Ajax Amsterdam in 1995.
