Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has expressed great excitement following his return to action after serving two months on the sidelines over betting-related issues.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper returned to the post for the Zebras against Cremonese in Serie A on Monday, October 20, in a game that ended in a one-all stalemate.
The 26-year-old was suspended in July over illegal betting activities dating back to two seasons ago.
Despite missing the first six matches of the new campaign, the former Watford shot-stopper produced an impressive performance for his side, making two crucial saves to secure a valuable point for Udinese.
The Nigerian international took to social media to celebrate his return to the post after the game.
“Happy to be back, back to doing what I love most,” he posted on Instagram.
“Back to fighting alongside my teammates, back to fighting in front of our fans, back to doing what I have been doing since I was a young boy.
“Back to following the path my father fought for, back to having fun, back to chasing dreams, back to doing what I’ll die for.”
Okoye's return comes as good news for Eric Chelle, who will have depth in the goalkeeping department ahead of Nigeria's crucial World Cup playoff next month.
