Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has urged his Home Eagles side to put their best foot forward in their final group game of the African Nations Championship.
Nigeria will be playing for pride when they face Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam, on Tuesday, August 19.
Eric Chelle's side have already been eliminated after suffering two defeats in their opening games against Senegal and Sudan.
Nigeria lost 1–0 to Senegal in their group opener before suffering a humiliating 4–0 defeat to Sudan.
Speaking ahead of the last group fixture, Chelle charged his side to salvage some pride before they leave the tournament.
“For this game, there will be changes because we lost two games. We need to change some things. The reality is that we lost two games due to lots of mistakes.
“It’s difficult for us mentally because the tournament is done for us, so this is why we need to return to Nigeria with something.
“Tomorrow’s game is one where we can try to forget our mistakes. I’m waiting to see how they will start and finish this game because, as a professional player, you need to stay focused, you need to be in a great state of mind, and the players need to show their qualities.”
