Victor Osimhen starred as Galatasaray thumped Ajax 3–0 at the Johan Cruyff Arena in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old scored a remarkable hat-trick to guide the Turkish giants to a comprehensive victory in Amsterdam.
The Super Eagles striker broke the deadlock in the 59th minute with a header before adding the second from the spot in the 66th minute.
The former Napoli forward completed his hat-trick in the 78th minute to become the second Nigerian to achieve this feat after Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
Speaking after the game, Osimhen said Galatasaray possess the quality to hurt any team in Europe.
“We have a goal. We know what we want, and we know the magnitude of performance you need in the Champions League,” Osimhen told Galatasaray TV.
“We want to match up with the elite. It won’t be easy, but we’ll go step by step. We have the individual quality to do damage to any team.”
Osimhen is currently the top scorer in the UCL this season with six goals.
