Glasgow Rangers midfielder, Joe Aribo has admitted Super Eagles could have pulled off a better performance against Sierra Leone despite their 2-1 victory.

The three-time African champions kicked off their 2023 AFCON qualifier campaign with a win against the Leone Stars at the MKO Stadium in Abuja on Thursday, June 9.

Speaking in a post-match interview, the versatile midfielder believes the Super Eagles could have done better against their opponents.

Despite the slim margin win, the 25-year-old believes it is crucial to begin their campaign with a victory.

“It’s important to win our first game of the qualifiers. We can play better, we will continue to improve and we will get better. We are working with the new manager and following his philosophy.” He said as reported by Brila.

The Super Eagles return to action on Monday, June 13, against Sao Tome in Morocco.
