We are going in the right direction - Ten Hag

Despite a disappointing 3-3 draw against Galatasaray in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is confident his team is in the right direction.

United’s hopes of progressing into the round of 16 suffered a setback after they let slip a two-goal lead to draw against the Turkish giants.

The result leaves United bottom in Group A on four points and must beat Bayern Munich in their final game to stand a chance of progressing.

“I am responsible for this. This is a project. We are going forward and making improvements so that’s very hopeful,” Ten Hag was quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano after Wednesday’s game.

“We are going in the right direction so I know where we have to go and the steps we take will make us successful in the long term.

“I keep thinking that this team is good. All the players in squad are good and deserve the best to play for Man United because they are brilliant players. And that counts for the whole squad.”

United have a difficult domestic fixture this weekend as they travel to St.James’ Park to face Newcastle United.

The Red Devils will hope to halt back-to-back defeats to Eddie Howe’s men.
