Villarreal boss explains why Chukwueze won't be a starter

Villarreal manager Quique Setien is satisfied with Samuel Chukwueze’s contributions to the team after Saturday’s 2-1 home win against Valencia.

Chukwueze scored one of the goals as the Yellow Submarines came from behind to beat Valencia at Estadio de la Cerámica on Saturday.

The Nigerian scored just before halftime to cancel out Edison Cavani’s opener for the Los Che.

Villarreal completed the comeback with the winner from Juan Foyth.

Speaking after the game, Setien said he’s happy with Chukwueze, but he insists the player has to give more to keep his place in the team.

“He is a player who was already important before my arrival and now, he is at a good level.

“Where I have had to think the most has been in the top positions, I have six players who could have started perfectly. Both Samu and the rest know that they have to give things to keep their position.”
