Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is undoubtedly the biggest talking point in this summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old, who was expected to leave the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium this summer despite signing a contract extension with Napoli last December, couldn’t engineer a move away from Naples on transfer deadline day.

Osimhen’s potential move to Stamford Bridge collapsed on transfer deadline day due to disagreements over personal terms.

Saudi-based Al Ahli, who were also interested in him, pulled out of the deal after Napoli changed their initial transfer demand for the striker.

The transfer controversy has resulted in a fallout between the player and the club, leading to his exclusion from the main team.

The former Capocannoniere award winner has also been stripped of his number nine jersey, which has been handed to new signing Romelu Lukaku.

Following the unfortunate turn of events for the former Lille striker, a number of his Super Eagles teammates and many Nigerian celebrities have taken to social media to offer their support.

One of these players is his Super Eagles teammate Taiwo Awoniyi, who posted a picture of Osimhen with his CAF award on his Instagram story with the caption:

“Symbol of hope, Respect,” tagging the reigning African Footballer of the Year.

Responding to the post, Osimhen wrote, “Awo!!! See you soon, my brother.”

Osimhen, who will mark his return to the Super Eagles for the first time since the AFCON, is expected to report to camp in Uyo in the coming days ahead of the upcoming Nations Cup qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
