Victor Osimhen has opened up on the role of his daughter in convincing him to join Galatasaray on a permanent basis from Napoli.
Osimhen spent last season on loan at Rams Park and endeared himself to the fans with his energetic performance and commitment to the club.
Galatasaray's board pushed to sign him permanently after he scored 37 goals and provided eight assists, as noted by Transfermarkt, helping the club win the league and cup double.
The Turkish champions faced competition from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, but the Super Eagles’ forward's decision favoured them over the lucrative deal.
He rejected Al-Hilal's €45 million per season salary, and accepted €21 million, including bonuses, at Galatasaray, to continue in Turkish football.
Osimhen discloses his daughter’s role in joining Galatasaray
Galatasaray presented their new signings Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sane to the fans ahead of their pre-season match against SS Lazio at Rams Park on Saturday, August 2, 2025, which ended 2-2.
The Nigerian forward spoke to TV 100 afterwards, explaining what went on behind the scenes before he decided to join the club permanently.
He named his daughter, Hailey, as a key factor in his decision-making, as she had fallen in love with the club and wanted him to continue.
“I never had any hesitation when coming to Galatasaray! Not even for a moment. The most important reason I feel like a Galatasaray fan is the supporters and my daughter,” he said.
“My daughter loves the Cimbombom songs so much. She sings them, she leads the triple chant. Her support has been a great help. My daughter is my everything, my life. I always tell people that. She is a brilliant child.
“For me, coming to this club is not just about myself, but also about connecting with my family, especially my daughter, and with Galatasaray, which is truly wonderful.”
He was pivotal to Galatasaray’s success last season and has promised to deliver more success, particularly with the arrival of German international Leroy Sane.
“I am very happy to be here, very proud. I will continue to do my very best to honour this jersey, this emblem, and fight until the last drop of my sweat. I believe that together we will achieve great successes,” he added.
