Former Nigerian international Victor Ikpeba has disclosed that Finidi George has the full support of the NFF despite calls for his dismissal.
The 53-year-old has endured a bumpy start to his tenure as Super Eagles head coach after failing to record a win in the June World Cup qualifier window.
The 2023 AFCON finalists were held to a 1-1 draw against South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday, June 7, before losing 2-1 to Benin Republic at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium.
These poor results have led to mounting pressure on Finidi George after just two matches in charge as head coach of the Super Eagles.
Despite the clamour for the sacking of the former Enyimba coach, Victor Ikpeba, a technical committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation, has revealed that the federation is fully behind Finidi.
“Nigerians asked for a local coach and Finidi was found to be the best man to lead the Super Eagles at this time,” Ikpeba was quoted by SCORENigeria.
“The technical committee chose the best in the interest of the country. Finidi will therefore continue to enjoy the full support of the NFF despite the recent results posted by the Super Eagles.”
