F.A Cup champions, Arsenal have secured the signing of British born Nigerian midfielder, as the club prepares for the upcoming season.

Akintola completed his move to the Emirates on Monday after being released by Championship club, Huddersfield last month.

He joins the U-23 side.

According to Football.London, the Gunners made the decision to sign the teenager because of the club's desire to add "development players" to their ranks, to not only strengthen the club's academy but to potentially one day blossom into a first-team player at the Emirates Stadium.

Akintola joins Rwandan-Norwegian, George Lewis, who joined the club earlier this summer from Norwegian club, Fram Larvik.

Brila.net reported that the club was impressed after video analysis of the youngster’s tenacious midfield performances that they have taken the unusual step of signing him without a trial.

Akinola is born in England to Nigerian parents and he’s currently eligible to play for the Super Eagles in the nearest future.
