Udeze expects Iheanacho to lead Super Eagles attack ahead of Osimhen

Former Nigerian defender, Ifeanyi Udeze has encouraged the coach Gernot Rohr to lead the team's attack with in-form Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho ahead of regular starter, Victor Osimhen as the team faces Benin and Lesotho in the AFCON qualifiers.

Udeze said this in a chat with ESPN. According to him, Iheanacho's recent form in England especially his recent brace against Manchester United in the FA Cup last week is an indication that the former Golden Eaglets star must spearhead the attack ahead of Osimhen.

Recall that Osimhen has been in and out for a while due to injuries and COVID-19, which has slow down the pace of his game.

However, the former West Bromwich Albion defender stated that he’s convinced that Iheanacho deserves to start ahead of Osimhen, should Rohr decide to go with only one striker in Porto Novo.

“I think Iheanacho should lead the team in our next two games because he has been playing and scoring for his club side lately, and I believe he will score again for us,” Udeze said.
