Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has acknowledged Ademola Lookman’s dip in form this season.
Despite hitting the ground running after his move to the Metropolitano in the second half of last season, Lookman has struggled to replicate that form in the current campaign.
The former African Footballer of the Year scored nine goals and provided four assists in 24 appearances for the Rojiblancos after joining the club from Atalanta in early February.
However, the 28-year-old has scored just one goal in nine matches this season and has completed the full 90 minutes only once.
Speaking ahead of Atlético Madrid’s Champions League clash with Manchester United, Simeone disclosed that Lookman is working hard to rediscover his form.
“Each player has their own moment. I don’t think any player is always at their best; there are injuries, Simoene said as quoted by AS
“Lookman isn’t playing the way he wants to be and we want to see him, but he works every day trying to get back to that form.
“He’s a good dribbler, we need him to be, to lose the ball, to keep trying.”
Atlético Madrid will welcome Michael Carrick’s Manchester United side to the Metropolitano on Tuesday, October 13.
