The UEFA Champions League lived up to the billing on Tuesday night with some shocking results as some heavyweights stumbled on the road.

Current title holders Real Madrid and Manchester City suffered crushing defeats to AC Milan and Sporting Lisbon, respectively.

Los Blancos lost 3-1 at home to the Rossoneri at the Santiago Bernabeu, while Sporting Lisbon thumped Pep Guardiola's Manchester City by four goals to one at Estadio Jose Alvalade, Lisbon.

However, Liverpool thumped Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 at Anfield courtesy of a hat-trick from Luis Diaz and a goal from Cody Gakpo.

Scottish giants Celtic were also 3-1 winners over RB Leipzig at Celtic Park, Glasgow, as AS Monaco recorded a 1-0 victory away at Bologna.

Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw at Lille.

The UCL action continues tonight with Barcelona, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid all in action.
