U-20 AFCON: Bosso reacts to Flying Eagles devasting loss to Gambia

The Head Coach of Nigeria's U-20 team Ladan Bosso has expressed his disappointment following his side's failure to qualify for the finals of the Nations Cup in Egypt.

The Flying Eagles suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Gambia in the semi-finals in a game Ladan Bosso's side was largely dominant.

The young Eagles recorded over 60 percent of the ball possession and 21 goal attempts but lacked the cutting edge to equalize after falling behind early in the game against the Young Scorpions.

The Flying Eagles were presented with a glorious opportunity to equalize from 12 yards late in the game, but Ahmed Abdullahi saw his 85th-minute strike hit the woodwork.

Reacting after the game, Flying Eagles gaffer Ladan Bosso could not hide his frustration as he believes his side didn't utilize their chances.

“We lost stupidly, we were naive from the start,” Bosso said per the CAF website.

“We failed to take our chances and we also missed the penalty in the 86th minute.

“I am very frustrated because we had a team that could go all the way. Football is cruel.

“We didn’t measure up. I congratulate The Gambia for winning,” he added.

Nigeria will lock horns against Tunisia on Friday, March 10 for a third-place finish.
