Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong scored Watford’s second goal in the Hornets’ 4-0 triumph over Luton Town in a Championship fixture at the Vicarage Road on Sunday.

Troost-Ekong doubled Watford’s advantage on the stroke of halftime after Kevin Davis had given the hosts the lead in the third minute of the clash.

The Super Eagle was only making his fifth appearance in the league and he did not disappoint. He was involved with a solid defensive display.

Defensively he managed two interceptions, and three clearances while he recorded 32 accurate passes that amounted to 71.9 percent success rate.

Two other goals from Joao Pedro and Ismaila Sarr in the second half made it a straightforward victory for Slaven Bilic’s men.

William Troost-Ekong equally put in the shift to help Watford keep a clean sheet against their fierce local rivals.

The Nigerian defender’s goal was his first for Watford in almost two years and his second for the Golden Boys.

Troost-Ekong’s first-ever goal for the Hornets was in the 3-2 defeat of Coventry City on November 7, 2020, also in the Championship.

While William Troost-Ekong played for the entire duration of the match against Luton, international teammates Samuel Kalu and Maduka Okoye witnessed the proceeding from the bench.

The win, however, lifts Watford into the top half of the Championship table, with the Golden Boys having amassed six wins, five draws, and five defeats from 16 matches.
