Transfers: Manchester City joins Osimhen chase

Premier League title holders Manchester City have reportedly joined the chase for Victor Osimhen's signature.

According to reports, Pep Guardiola's side has shown keen interest in the Nigerian striker despite having arguably some of the best-attacking talents in Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

Osimhen has been in fantastic form for Napoli this season after netting 19 goals in the Serie A to sit at the apex of the top scorers' chart.

The 24-year-old has also managed 2 goals in the UEFA Champions League for the Spalletti-led side.

The Nigerian striker's rich vein of form can be figured in Napoli's remarkable campaign in the Italian topflight which has seen them open an 18-point gap at the top of Serie A as they edge closer to their first Scudetto title in over three decades.

Sky Sports journalist, Florian Plettenberg reports that the Cityzens are still interested in the ex-Lille striker despite having some of the best strikers in their ranks.

“Been told City, #CFC, #PSG & #MUFC are all in! Different talks took place. #MCFC inquired, although they have Haaland/Alvarez. No topic for Bayern. A transfer fee of at least €100 million is not feasible,” the transfer expert wrote on Twitter.

Osimhen will be in action when Napoli welcomes Frankfurt to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League round 16 clash.

The high-flying Serie A leaders go into the encounter with a two-goal advantage from the first leg.
