Christopher Aurier, brother of Tottenham defender Serge Aurier, has been shot dead at 5am Monday morning in Toulouse, France.

The 26-year-old was allegedly shot in the stomach before the killer fled the scene.

The incident is believed to have happened outside of a nightclub in the early hours of the morning.

Christopher was then pronounced dead at Toulouse University Hospital.

According to The Sun, he played football at an amateur level.

The victim's brother, Serge, had played in Tottenham's 2-1 north London derby win over Arsenal only hours earlier.

The French authorities have launched an investigation with the perpetrator still at large after fleeing the scene.

Tottenham Tweeted: 'The Club is deeply saddened to confirm media reports that Serge Aurier’s brother passed away in the early hours of this morning. Everybody at the Club sends their sincerest condolences to Serge and his family. Our thoughts are with them all.'

His brother Serge has won 62 caps for Ivory Coast and won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015. With PSG he was a two-time French league champion.

And like Serge, Christopher came through the ranks at RC Lens but did not make the breakthrough to the highest level, according to Daily Mail.
