Frank Lampard managed Chelsea in two spells and oversaw one of the biggest transfer windows in the club’s history in the summer of 2020, a window that brought in the likes of Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, and Timo Werner.

He was not all about incomings; he did send some players out of the club, including former teammates, in his first managerial spell at West London.

Sports Brief looks at the top seven players Lampard sent out of Chelsea and how they fared or are faring, as first analysed by Daily Star.

1. David Luiz

The Brazilian was the first casualty in the summer of 2019. It appeared like a personal vendetta after the two clashed in 2012 during Andre Villas-Boas’ reign when Luiz confronted the number 8 and told him to respect the manager.

According to Sky Sports, Lampard clarified Luiz’s sale to Arsenal for £8m as nothing personal. The former Paris Saint-Germain man spent two seasons at the Emirates before returning to Brazil, where he is still playing at 36.

5. Tariq Lamptey

7. Lucas Piazon

Piazon was Chelsea’s longest-serving player at the time of his departure to Braga for free in 2021. He joined as a teen in 2012 and went on seven straight loans, including the Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem. He is still on Braga’s books. international appearances.
