Some Nigerian football stars have distinguished themselves with remarkable performances in front of goal this season.
As the 2024/25 season approaches its conclusion, MyNigeriaSports takes a look at some Super Eagles strikers with the most goals in the major European leagues.
Victor Osimhen – 33
Osimhen has been in sensational form for Galatasaray since moving to the Turkish Süper Lig last September.
The 26-year-old has racked up an incredible 33 goals in 38 competitive appearances for the Turkish champions this term.
The Super Eagles striker has been particularly lethal in the Süper Lig, registering 24 goals in 28 league appearances for Okan Buruk's side.
Osimhen also netted six goals in the Europa League, with the remaining three goals coming in the Turkish Cup.
The former Lille striker recently surpassed his personal best goal-scoring record of 31 goals in the 2022/23 season at Napoli.
Cyriel Dessers – 26
The Dutch-born Nigerian striker is an unsung hero who is rarely talked about by fans and pundits.
Despite not making Eric Chelle's recent call-up for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Dessers has been in remarkable goal-scoring form for Rangers this season.
The former Cremonese striker has registered 26 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions for the Scottish giants.
The 30-year-old is averaging a goal every 125 minutes.
Tolu Arokodare – 22
The KRC Genk forward has been in solid goal-scoring form in the Belgian Jupiler League this season.
The 24-year-old has netted 22 goals in 43 appearances for Genk this season.
The one-capped Super Eagles star is averaging a goal every 147 minutes for the club.
Arokodare has won the Belgian Jupiler League Ebony Shoe, awarded to the best player of African descent in the Belgian league.
Ademola Lookman – 20
The reigning African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman, reached a remarkable career milestone after scoring against AS Roma in Serie A.
The 27-year-old netted his 20th goal of the season across all competitions as Atalanta defeated Claudio Ranieri's side to secure Champions League qualification for next season.
It is the first time the Super Eagles forward has scored 20 goals in a single campaign in his career.
The English-born Nigerian international has also registered seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions for Gian Piero Gasperini's side.
