Super Eagles legend, Taribo West has called out Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick for his comments on player transfer to some clubs in Europe.

Pinnick, while addressing the home-based Super Eagles before the game against Mexico is reported to have said his administration won't release players who want to leave the NPFL for what he termed ‘mushroom football clubs’ in Europe.

Pinnick's statement was not well received by the media and he was strongly criticized for being disrespectful to the clubs and the players.

Reacting to the statement, Taribo said such comments from the head of Nigerian football is insensitive and embarrassing.

Taribo hinted the NFF boss should focus on improving the Nigerian Professional Football League and not trying to stop grown-up men from earning a living.

“Instead of improving and focusing on developing the structures around the league, you’re dictating to adults where and how to earn a living.” He told BBC.
