The early stages of the 2024/2025 Premier League season took an interesting twist after Manchester City dropped points for the second week running.
Pep Guardiola's side were pegged to a one-all draw by Newcastle United at St.James Park thanks to a second-half penalty by Anthony Gordon.
How Premier League table looks like
The result follows the other weekend's feisty one-all draw with Arsenal at the Etihad. Arsenal, meanwhile, left it late to return to winning ways with a 4-2 win over Leicester City. Both Arsenal and Manchester City remain unbeaten.
However, there is a new leader in town after Liverpool's hard-fought win over Wolves saw them usurp City at the top. Chelsea also recorded their highest-ever placing under the new owners, with their 4-2 win over Brighton moving them into fourth place.
