Super Eagles stars have all been given the green light to face Sierra Leone in their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier after testing negative for deadly coronavirus.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the development on their official Twitter page barely 24 hours before the kickoff.

Gernot Rohr and his players will now shift their focus to dishing out excellent display when the game gets underway at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

The statement says: "Our COVID-19 test results are out, each member of the team tested negative."

The three-time African champions were subjected to the test to ensure there's a limit to the spread of the virus even as contact sports continue.

Meanwhile, Nigeria head into the match with six points after their victories over Lesotho and Benin in their earlier games when the qualifiers got started.

And a win in this weekend's encounter will push them closer to AFCON 2022 qualification as they have another shot at the title.

They finished third at the last edition staged in Egypt in the summer of 2019 after beating Tunisia in the losers' final.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Sierra Leone striker Kei Kamara has lamented at the poor state of mattress and pillows in his team hotel in Benin.

The Leone Stars arrived in Nigeria earlier this week ahead of their crucial 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Friday, November 13.

Both teams progress to Freetown four days later for the second leg of their encounter as the race for the competition hots up.
