Super Eagles star talks tough ahead of Nigeria’s clash with Sao Tome and Principe: 'No mercy'

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will host Sao Tome and Principe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, in their last Africa Cup of Nations qualifying round.

Nigeria won the first leg of the tie 10-0, with Victor Osimhen scoring four goals at the Stade Arar, Morocco, on matchday two last year.

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke is charged up despite it being a dead rubber game.

Despite the insignificant nature of the game, Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro named a strong 23-man squad, which includes the likes of Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi, and others, for the tie.

According to Complete Sports, the Enyimba shot-stopper claimed that the Super Eagles will not show the True Patriots mercy when they face them in Uyo.

"It’s true that we have already qualified for the next AFCON, but we still have to go out there and do our job," the Nigerian goalkeeper said.

"The fans always want us to win, and we can’t afford to disappoint them. We are professionals, so the most important thing is to put on a good show for them."

Olorunleke, speaking on the first-leg scoreline, claimed that nothing is stopping them from having a better scoreline in the second leg.

"We beat them 10-0 the last time, nothing stops us from doing better this time around," he added.

Peseiro names Osimhen and 22 others

Sports Brief earlier reported that Portuguese manager, Jose Peseiro has named Victor Osimhen and 22 others for the weekend’s AFCON qualification final encounter against São Tomé and Príncipe in Uyo.

Nigeria need a point against São Tomé and Príncipe to seal the top spot ahead of second-placed Guinea-Bissau, who are on 10 points and play at home to Sierra Leone in Bissau.

The match is set to take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday, September, 10.
