Former Nigeria captain John Mikel Obi has urged the Super Eagles to approach the Gabon playoff clash with confidence, bravery, and passion.
According to the former Chelsea midfielder, the players must demonstrate a sense of pride in wearing the iconic green and white jersey.
The three-time African champions will face off against the Panthers of Gabon in the semifinal of the CAF World Cup playoffs on Thursday, November 13.
The winner of this encounter will face either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final playoff match on Sunday, November 16.
Speaking on his Obi One podcast, the 38-year-old said that:
“Go into the game, play as we should, with full confidence, bravery, and passion, knowing you’re wearing the green-white-green. The badge of that green-white-green is huge,” Obi said.
“300 million people, that is a lot of pressure, but you have to deal with it. I know they can do it, and I believe in them.”
