Super Eagles legend talks up Boniface’s impressive form at Bayer Leverkusen

Erstwhile Super Eagles captain Austin Jay Okocha has lauded Victor Boniface for his impressive start to life at Bundesliga club, Bayer Leverkusen.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation at the BayArena following his arrival from Belgian Pro League club, Union St. Gilloise this summer.

Boniface has scored six times in five league outings for Die Werkself.

Okocha, who made a name for himself during his time with Eintracht Frankfurt in the 90’s was full of praise for his compatriot.

“He’s been amazing. It’s always great to see one of our own doing well,” Okocha told livescore.com.

“He gives us hope. It shows we are not short of talent. We [Nigeria] just need to get our act together!

“It is an exciting time for Nigerian football and the good thing is their ages, some of them haven’t even hit their prime yet.

“It’s now about finding a way to getting the best out of them when they come to play for Nigeria.”

Boniface was named Bundesliga Player of the Month for August.

The striker also scooped the Rookie of the Month prize.

Boniface was joint top scorer in the UEFA Europa League last season.
