Super Eagles: Ighalo strikes again for Al Hilal, Onyekuru stars for Adana Demirspor in Istanbulspor

The two Nigerian stars were in action for their side and their performances helped to push them to victory

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo scored the winning goal for Al Hilal in their tough 1-0 win at Al Ittihad.

Ighalo ended 2022 with a bang, scoring four goals in his last four appearances for the year. And he was looking to begin the year in the same fashion when Al Hilal travelled to Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium to play Al Ittihad.

The first half was explosive, with both teams going for the jugular, and Ighalo profited from it very early, scoring in the 12th minute to put Al Hilal ahead.

The second half was not too eventful. And in the end, Ighalo’s strike proved to be the winner for Al Hilal.

Meanwhile, in Turkey, it was a party for Henry Onyekuru and his Adana Demirspor side, as they steamrolled Istanbulspor 6-0 at the Yeni Adana stadium.

Younes Belhanda started the onslaught in the first half from the spot. However, there was a lull.

Nonetheless, Adana Demirspor came out for the second guns blazing. Yusuf Sari scored the second barely five minutes into the second period.

Super Eagles striker Onyekuru then scored his first and Adana Demirspor’s third in the 55th minute. Badou Ndiaye then made it four ten minutes later.

Onyekuru got his brace in the 80th minute before Gokhan Tore scored to complete the 6-0 rout two minutes later.

The win takes Adana Demirspor to fourth on the table with 30 points after 16 games.
