Sports Minister Dare reveals travel plans for AFN athletes

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Sunday Dare has highlighted the itinerary of AFN athletes ahead of a training tour of the USA and also the order of activities lined up to keep them fit before the Olympics proper in July.

Dare told brila.net in a chat that the Ministry will soon circulate a calendar for the Olympics running from May 6th until July 10th where team Nigeria will move to Nezarazu in Japan where the athletes will be camped for three weeks.

He also added that the athletes will also partake in an African championship billed for Algiers in June as well as the national trials, and a five Nation championship all for the preparation ahead of the forthcoming Olympics.

“I have announced to them that they will be traveling on Thursday and the Covid test will be on Wednesday, they will be going to Texas and Florida for the four relays as long as the qualifications are concern.”

“We just announced the calendar and we are going to circulate that Olympics calendar running up until May 6th to July 10th, where we will move to Nezarazzu in Japan we hope to camp our athletes for three weeks there which is just barely thirty minutes to the venue of the Olympics ground.”

“So, we have our plans lined up, the African championship in Algiers in June, we have  the national trials in June, we are also planning a five-nation championship for athletes also in June.”
