Simy Nwankwo says he is determined to repay Salernitana for their effort to bring him to the Club.

Simy Nwankwo signed for the Serie A new boys on a season long loan from Serie B side Crotone.

The Nigerian forward scored 20 goals in the league last campaign, but it was wasn’t enough to keep Crotone in the top flight division for another season.

Nwankwo attracted interest from Venezia, Real Mallorca, but Salernitana beats off competition to sign the on a season-long loan from Serie B club Crotone with the obligation to buy for €6m.

Speaking after the deal was announced, Simy said he’s delighted to be joining the club and he’s desperate to repay them for having faith in him.

“The desire to bring me here was special and I’m determined to repay the faith the club have put in me,” the striker told BBC Sport.

The 29-year-old joined Crotone from Portuguese Outfit Gil Vicente and netted 66 goals in 159 appearances for them.
