Serie A: Osimhen, Lookman listed for Team of the season

Super Eagles duo of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman have been shortlisted among the eligible players for the Serie A Team of the Season.
The voting for the 11-man team opened on Monday and is expected to close tomorrow May 18.

To arrive at the final list, the voting exercise will be 50 percent while 50% will be made up of the choices of a jury of Directors of sports media, based on criteria of sporting merit and fair play on the field.

According to Serie A, the Serie A Team of the Season is a celebration of the season and the players who have played a high-level championship.

Napoli’s Osimhen is the current highest goal scorer with 23 goals while Lookman, who plays for Atalanta is among the top five top scorers in the Serie A this season

The best players’ list has been selected taking into account the advanced analysis of Stats Perform, created from the tracking data recorded with the Hawk-Eye system. The rating system, patented in 2010 with K-Sport and scientifically validated, considers not only statistical data and technical events, but also positional data. This makes it possible to analyse crucial aspects such as movement without the ball and thus optimal movements, game choices, and the contribution to the technical and physical efficiency of the team, which allow for an objective and qualitative evaluation of the performance. For the final calculation were considered only Serie A 2022/2023 matches.

Osimhen and Lookman were listed among the forwards eligible for the team.

Other strikers in the race are Boulaye Dia (US Salernitana), Angel Di Maria (Juventus), Paulo Dybala (AS Roma), Rasmus Hojlund (Atalanta BC), Kvicha Kvaratshkelia (SSC Napoli), Armand Lauriente (US Sassuolo), Rafael Leao (AC Milan), Lautaro Martinez (Inter), M`bala Nzola (AC Spezia), Gabriel Strefezza (US Lecce), Mattia Zaccagni (SS Lazio).
