Reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman has reached a remarkable career milestone after scoring against AS Roma in Serie A.

The 27-year-old netted his 20th goal of the season across all competitions as Atalanta defeated Claudio Ranieri's side to secure Champions League qualification for next season.

It is the first time the Super Eagles forward has scored 20 goals in a single campaign in his career.

The English-born Nigerian international has also registered seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions for Gian Piero Gasperini's side.

Lookman, who was not fully fit prior to the game, passed a late fitness test to be included in the starting lineup.

The gamble paid off, as Lookman gave the home side an early lead in the ninth minute of the game.

Bryan Cristante equalized for the visitors in the 32nd minute before Ghanaian international Ibrahim Sulemana scored the winner for Atalanta in the 76th minute.
