Reigning African Footballer of the Year Ademola Lookman has stated that his Atalanta side will fight for every point in their remaining two Serie A matches of the season.
La Dea sealed qualification for the UEFA Champions League with two matches to spare after beating AS Roma 2-1 at the Gewiss Stadium in Serie A on Monday, May 12.
The Super Eagles star, who passed a late fitness test to make the starting lineup, scored an early opener in the ninth minute before Bryan Cristante equalized for Claudio Ranieri's side in the 32nd minute.
Ghanaian international Ibrahim Sulemana came off the bench to score the winner in the 76th minute, sealing a remarkable victory for Gian Piero Gasperini's side.
Speaking in a post-match reaction, the 27-year-old stated that Atalanta deserved to qualify for the Champions League.
“It’s a great feeling. We knew the importance of the game today to qualify for the Champions League. We put in a performance tonight that was deserving of that,” Lookman told DAZN.
“I try to be available whenever I can, so that’s important. I try to give my best. The team showed we are strong. There are two more games, and we want to finish with as many points as possible.”
