Semi Ajayi set to return for festive Championship football

Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi is still unable to train with his teammates following his latest injury.

The Nigerian international successfully recovered from his ankle injury suffered in the draw at Wigan in August, and played 45 minutes in the friendly with Elche during the winter training camp.

Ajayi however suffered a set-back in training before Sunderland when he fell awkwardly on his shoulder.

West Brom coach Carlos Corberan said: “Ajayi still couldn’t train with the group. It could be between one week and ten days, so let’s see how he progresses because it’s another type of injury.”

The former Rotherham player could return at some point over the festive period, as the baggies will need him to be ready to help cope with the gruesome fixture list.
