Sassuolo target Olisa Ndah capture

Olisa Ndah Olisa Ndah

Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah is a transfer target for Italian Serie A side Sassuolo, thanks to his impressive performances for Orlando Pirates of the South African Premier Soccer League.

The former Akwa United FC of Uyo defender has been in impressive form since joining the Orlando Pirates in August 2021.

According to several reports in South Africa, Ndah is the subject of bids from Sassuolo, who are currently struggling in the Italian Serie A, with Alessio Dionici’s side sitting 16th on the table, and a yet to be revealed Swedish club.

The Italian Serie A side have reportedly submitted a bid and received a response from the Pirates who will not stand in the way of the defender’s transfer.

Ndah recently won his maiden silverware in South Africa when the Buccaneers after they defeated AmaZulu 1-0 in the MTN 8 Final last month.

The Pirates are resigned to losing their prized defender too soon and have already identified targets as a replacement for the 24-year-old.

Should the transfer be successful, it would be the former Remo Stars ball-playing defender second stint in Europe after a brief spell with Sliema Wanderers in Malta in 2014. A move that was hampered with recurring injuries, forcing the youngster an early return to Nigeria.

A surprise inclusion to the final 28-man Nigeria squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in January, Ndah made his international debut in the Super Eagles’ 2-0 win against Guinea-Bissau in their final group game in Cameroon.
