Former Super Eagles attacker, Peter Odemwingie has revealed he won’t be able to attend the upcoming friendly between Russia and Nigeria.

Odemwingie also predicted that the match between both teams will be a ‘great spectacle’.

Russia will host Nigeria in a friendly tie on June 6 at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.

However, speaking to Sport-Express, the former West Brom forward, said he won’t watch the friendly live because of personal reasons.

“I would love to watch this game live, but I am on a coaching course for the first two weeks of June,” the former Stoke City star said.

“I hope to visit Russia in August and watch a few RPL games.

“I think the Russia–Nigeria match will be a great spectacle,” he added.

Odemwingie was eligible to play for Russia through his Russian mother.

But he decided to represent Nigeria at senior international level during his career as a professional footballer.

The 43-year-old earned 65 caps for the Super Eagles during his time at the national team.

The former Lokomotiv Moscow forward featured in two FIFA World Cups and four Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, tournaments for Nigeria.
