'Rushing back is an indisputably bad idea' - Rohr warns Ndidi

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr says Wilfred Ndidi will be missed, but he urged him to take his time before returning to the pitch again.

Ndidi pulled out the Super Eagles team that will take on Tunisia and Algeria in next month’s friendly match in Austria due to injury.

The Leicester City midfielder sustained an adductor injury in a Premier League game against Burnley at the King Power Stadium and the club confirmed that he’s expected to be sidelined for at least 12 weeks.

Ndidi injured and promptly proceeded not only to light up Nigeria’s midfield but also to score in consecutive games against Ukraine and Brazil.

Rohr has now warned the midfielder against rushing himself back to action ahead of time after undergoing surgery this week.

“We will miss him so much,” Rohr told ESPN.

“I have spoken to him, of course. He must be patient now and take his time to get well.”

“Rushing back is an indisputably bad idea, especially for Ndidi’s injury.” He said.

Meanwhile, fit-again Tyronne Ebuehi has now been called up as a later replacement for Ndidi.

The FC Twente defender will be making his return back to the Super Eagles since 2018.
