Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has defended Kelechi Iheanacho after missing a penalty in their draw against Crystal Palace on Monday.

Iheanacho had the opportunity to put Leicester City in front from six yards earlier in the game, but Vicente Guaita saved his penalty.

Leicester City paid for Iheanacho’s miss when Wilfred Zaha scored for the home side at Selhurst Park.

The Foxes however had Harvey Barnes to thank as his shot found its way into back of the net for the equaliser with seven minutes left to play.
While addressing the media after the match, Rodgers refused to blame the Nigerian for the draw and claimed he’s one of the best penalty takers in his team.

“I said at half time, it was one you have to let go of. He practised yesterday and hit five out of five, so he was confident, but it is just one of those things,”Rodgers told Amazon Prime.

Iheanacho has now failed to score his last two penalties for club and country, he also missed from six yards in Super Eagles 1 – 1 draw with Tunisia last October.
