Rivers United through to CAF Confederations Cup Group Phase

Rivers United will compete in the Group Phase of the CAF Confederations Cup, after holding Al Nasr to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

The Nigerian Champions advanced to the Group phase 6-1 on aggregate, thanks to a 5-0 first-leg victory.

The hosts went in front on 39 minutes through Abdulsalam Al Fitouri, while Nwangwa Nyima restored parity on 57 minutes.

The Stanley Eguma’s side fought hard to protect their advantage and left the pitch with a huge smile on their faces.

The Pride of Rivers United remains the only Nigerian side that made it to these Group phase CAF competitions this season.

Kwara United, Remo Stars, and Plateau United all lost out in the preliminary round.
