Rangers CEO makes NPFL debut in Tornadoes win

Seven-time NPFL champions, Enugu Rangers secured a 2-0 away win over Niger Tornadoes as their general manager and chief executive officer, Amobi Ezeaku, made his professional bout for the Flying Antelopes in the league at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Ezeaku, whose inclusion in the match-day squad attracted attention before kick-off, came on in the second half after Chidiebere Nwobodo and Godwin Obaje had given them the lead in the first half.

Both goals were scored within three minutes as Nwobodo opened scoring in the 22nd minute while Obaje doubled the advantage in the 25th minute to make it five wins a row and five consecutive clean sheets for the former champions.

Elsewhere, Lobi Stars returned to the top of the table with 42 points, thanks a 2-0 win over Katsina United while Plateau United also closed the gap on them to just one point after beating Bendel Insurance 2-0 as well.

After getting his first win in charge of Sunshine Stars in midweek, Kennedy Boboye’s return to Heartland ended up on a positive note as he led the Akure-based side to a 1-1 draw against his former employers.

Match-day 23 continues on Monday (today), with a thrilling clash between struggling Akwa United and Enyimba in Uyo just as kano Pillars will host Abia Warriors at the Sanni Abacha Stadium in Kano.

Sporing Lagos are also away at Doma United while Gombe United will welcome Shooting Stars to the Pantami Stadium on Tuesday.
