Qatar 2022: Poland referee Szymon Marciniak to officiate World Cup final

Poland referee Szymon Marciniak has been appointed by FIFA to officiate the World Cup final.

Copa America champions Argentina will lock horns with world champions France at Lusail Iconic Stadium on Sunday, December 18 with the prestigious World Cup trophy at stake.

The 41-year-old has officiated a game from both teams en route to the finals.

He officiated the round of 16 clash between Argentina and Australia, as the La Albiceleste beat Australia 2-1 at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium on December 3.

Marciniak was also the centre referee when France beat Denmark 2-1 in the group stages at Stadium 974 on November 26.

He became a FIFA referee in 2011 and refereed his first World Cup game during the last edition in Russia four years ago.
