Prize money will be paid directly to players not through govt - FIFA Secretary General to Super Falcons

The Secretary-General of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Ms Fatma Samoura has assured the Super Falcons of the payment of their prize monies.

She said this when she visited the Super Falcons in their dressing room shortly after their 0-0 draw with the Republic of Ireland

According to her, the prize money that is to be paid to the Super Falcons, has been ring-fenced in such a way that the no government or person can tamper with it.

Ms Samoura noted that she is knows “it has been tough” and that they had to “face the reality of Nigeria.”

“I know that things have been tough… We have to face the realities of #Nigeria. It pains me a lot. It’s because of you [the @NGSuper_Falcons] that for the first time the prize money has been ring-fenced in the history of FIFA, to ensure that it goes to you.” - FIFA Secretary-General Fatma Samoura said.

The players participating in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament, would receive $60,000 each.
