Peseiro excited with Eagles win

Jose Peseiro Jose Peseiro

New Eagles manager, Jose Peseiro could not hide his excitement after guiding Nigeria to their biggest ever win on Monday, June 13.

The Super Eagles hammered Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 at an empty Stade Adrar stadium in Agadir, Morocco.

The Portuguese trainer recorded his second win in charge of the Eagles after a poor start against Mexico and Ecuador in a friendly.

The former Sporting Lisbon manager led the Eagles to defeat Sierra Leone by 2-1 in their 2023 AFCON qualifiers opener at the national stadium in Abuja on Thursday, June 9.

Speaking in a post-match interview, the 62-year-old expressed his excitement with the score line and the impressive display from his side.

“About the 10-0 win? Yes, it’s good,” he told ESPN as quoted by Soccernet.

“It is better for us [to get] three points, which is more important to us. Of course, I want to improve our organization on the field because we didn’t train too much with them.

“We want to introduce our ideas — this match was good because they tried to follow our organisation, our style, our idea. I am also happy because the guys who entered during the match did as well as those players who started.”

The victory pushes the Super Eagles to the summit of group A after Sierra Leone shared the spoils with Guinea-Bissau in the other group A encounter which ended in a 2-2 draw.
