Tobi Amusan has shared her initial reaction following her first appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The world record holder begun her quest for a medal by finishing in first place in women's 100 meters hurdles heat race.

The Commonwealth and African champion won her heat with a time of 12.49 seconds, beating USA's Alaysha Johnson, who finished second with 12.61s.

Jamaica's Janeek Brown came in third place with a time of 12.84 seconds.

The 27-year-old is now through to the semifinals of women's 100m hurdles.

Amusan, who made her third Olympics appearance stated that her goal is to give her best in every round.

"God is great, my third Olympics. My goal is to come out here and kill each round. I think I did a pretty decent job, and my coach is going to be mad as usual, ‘I told you to run through the line,’ but I just felt like we had three rounds, and I need to know where I am, taking it easy and see how far I can go when I press,” she said.

Nigeria's athletic queen concluded that she is not pressured by being a world record-holder in the women's 100 meters hurdles, but rather she approaches every race as an underdog.
