Paris Saint-Germain and Brentford have joined the growing list of European clubs pursuing Nigerian midfielder Sani Suleiman, according to reports from SportsBoom.

The 19-year-old has continued to impress scouts across the continent with a series of commanding performances for Slovakian side AS Trenčín, following his rise to prominence with Nigeria’s U-20 team at the FIFA World Cup in Chile.

Suleiman, who joined Trenčín from Akwa United just over a year ago, has already been linked with several top clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Bayer Leverkusen, and Glasgow Rangers.

However, SportsBoom reports that interest has now intensified, with European champions PSG, Premier League outfit Brentford, Dutch giants Ajax, and Belgian champions Royal Antwerp all monitoring the midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.

SportsBoom reported that Suleiman’s future could soon be decided, with strong offers expected in the coming months.

“He had a great tournament, so the interest from other clubs is normal,” the British outlet said.

“PSG, Brentford, and Ajax have entered the race to sign Sani Suleiman, the interest is very strong, and talks are ongoing, but the next destination hasn’t been decided yet. It might not necessarily be Rangers, but anything is possible in football.”

Suleiman first caught the eye of European scouts during Nigeria’s run at the just-concluded U-20 World Cup in Chile, where his passing range and composure in midfield stood out. Despite Nigeria’s early exit from the tournament after a round of 16 defeat to Argentina, the youngster was widely regarded as one of the Flying Eagles’ most consistent performers.

His development in Slovakia has since validated that early promise. Suleiman has been an integral part of Trenčín’s campaign in the Slovak Super Liga this season, delivering assured performances that highlight his versatility as both a deep-lying playmaker and a box-to-box midfielder.

Trenčín are understood to hold an option to extend the player’s current contract by two years, but club insiders admit that retaining him beyond January may prove difficult given the scale of interest.

“AS Trenčín hold an option to extend Suleiman’s contract by two years, it appears increasingly likely the club will lose him in the January transfer window due to the strong interest being shown,” SportsBoom added.

Reports indicate that scouts from PSG and Brentford have attended multiple Trenčín fixtures this season to observe the teenager firsthand, while Ajax are considering him as a long-term investment in midfield depth. Several Major League Soccer sides have also expressed preliminary interest.

Suleiman’s potential move would cap a rapid rise for the former Akwa United youth player, who transitioned seamlessly to European football in 2024 and has since become one of Nigeria’s most talked-about prospects abroad.

Though speculation continues to mount, Suleiman’s representatives are said to be prioritising a move that will offer both regular first-team football and a clear pathway for development, rather than an immediate big-money transfer.
