Human Right Activist Shehu Sani has lamented the poor state of affairs of some ex-internationals who have represented Nigeria in various sporting disciplines.

The former Senator on Nonday, July 10 paid a courtesy visit to ex-Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles player, Daniel Joshua.

The ex-international has been bedridden for 15 years after he suffered a spinal cord injury resulting from a car crash.

The accident occurred when he was driving to the Minna Eagles camp at the invitation of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Daniel Joshua as per reports received support from the Niger State Government under the leadership of Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu but the help ceased at some point.

After offering him financial support of N500,000, the NFF is said to have abandoned the national award holder.

In a tweeted statement following his visit, Shehu Sani urged the NFF and other stakeholders to come to the aid of the abandoned ex-international.

"Our government demands for patriotism from our Sportsmen and Women and abandons them in their moments of need. This new Government and the new leadership of the
@thenff should come to his aid and others in similar situations."
