Victor Osimhen makes a scoring return for Napoli in their Champions League clash against Ajax at the Diego Maradona’s Stadium on Wednesday.

Osimhen hasn’t kicked a ball since injuring his hamstring against Liverpool last month.

The Nigerian international however was named amongst the substitutes by coach Luciano Spalletti.

Napoli won the reversed fixture 6-1 and they wasted no time to prove the result wasn’t a fluke by taking the lead inside the opening four minutes. Polish star Piotr Zielinski combined with Hirving Lozano for the opener.

Zieliński again set up Italian star Giacomo Raspadori, who fired into the roof of the net after an initial touch from 12 yards.

Ajax reduced the deficit after the restart when another Nigerian Calvin Bassey sent a delightful cross from the left finding a Davy Klaassen who headed into the top corner.

Osimhen made his comeback from injury, in the second as Spalletti substituted Raspadori.

Napoli then restored their two goals advantage when Jurrien Timber was adjudged to have stopped Tanguy Ndombele’s volley with his hand, and Kvaratskhelia made no mistake from the spot.

Former Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn scored what seems to be a consolation few minutes.

Osimhen did get his goal in the added time after forcing Daley Blind into an error before firing into the empty net.

Napoli have now qualified for the knockout phase of the competition with 12 points from four games.
