Galatasaray are sweating on the fitness of Victor Osimhen after the striker suffered a fractured right forearm during Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League clash at Liverpool.

The injury forced the Super Eagles star off the pitch at halftime as the Turkish champions fell 4-0, crashing out of the tournament 4-1 on aggregate.

In an official press statement, Galatasaray confirmed that Osimhen’s arm has been placed in a cast. While the initial stabilization is complete, the club’s medical team is currently debating whether the 27-year-old requires surgery.

A final decision will be made following further evaluations once Osimhen returns from a brief hiatus. The club reportedly granted the super Eagles ace a few days off during the international break, which the striker is spending in Lagos. He was spotted on social media driving through the city in his exotic car collection, enjoying some downtime before his re-examination in Istanbul.

According to prominent Turkish journalist Ali Naci Kucuk, a surgical intervention would likely sideline Osimhen for at least six weeks.

Osimhen isn’t the only casualty from the trip to Anfield. Teammate Noa Lang also suffered a significant injury during the match—a serious cut to his right thumb—and is scheduled to undergo surgery in Liverpool.

In a related development, Osimhen has dropped in the latest African market value rankings, with Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo rising to the summit.

According to updated figures by Transfermarkt, Mbeumo is now valued at €80 million, level with Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi as Africa’s most valuable players.

Osimhen, valued at €75 million, now shares third place with Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo.

Mbeumo’s rise has been driven by consistent performances at club level, while Osimhen’s valuation has remained unchanged since his move to Galatasaray.

Despite the drop, Osimhen remains the most valuable player in the Turkish Süper Lig and Nigeria’s highest-valued footballer. He also holds a strong global position, ranking 41st overall and eighth among centre-forwards.

Transfermarkt’s Turkey area manager, Lara Karacan, highlighted Osimhen’s off-field influence.

“Osimhen is a brand. He is not only a player, but also a figure in football,” she said.
